Computer vision

Many projects face the daunting task of measuring and weighing thousands of artifacts, such as pottery sherds. The goal of this project is to capture sherd dimensions (length, width, thickness, area, and weight) and quickly transmit the results to a project database. We are using the OpenCV library and simple off-the-shelf web cams and parts to create a portable, self-contained system that can be easily taken to the field for on-site processing of material.  Future enhancements may include color and material analysis.
